The Hon. Minister for Youth and Sports Lt Col Laisenia Tuitubou is currently leading a delegation of senior ministry officials to the Yasawa group.
“This visit is to ensure that we touch base with the youth and sports clubs and get to hear from them their needs at the rural level,” Hon. Tuitubou said.
“We have met with most youth clubs since November last year, but we will be meeting with some sporting clubs for the first time during this tour,” the Minister added.
“We will extend this trend to the northern, eastern, and central divisions,” the minister said.
Senior Sports Officer Mr Sitiveni Rokoro said; “After our meeting with the chief executive officer of the Fiji Rugby Union last week, the Hon. Minister has indicated that we will have to conduct talanoa sessions with sporting clubs, begining with rugby.”
“We will meet with officials of Yasawa-i-Rara on Wednesday and we hope to hear from them and also share with them the vision of FRU and Government regarding developing not only rugby but all sports in Fiji,” Mr Rokoro said.
The delegation includes the Permanent Secretary for Youth and Sports Mr Josefa Sania, Director for Youth and Sports Mr William Naisara and other senior ministry officials.
They will visit seventeen villages and will return to Suva on Friday.
