The Suva Cricket Association got back underway for the A-grade competition on the 3rd of January, while the premier league recommenced on the 10th. It’s a new look competition after the break with the Punjabi Tigers and Covenant Brothers being promoted from A-Grade up into Premier league after finishing in the top two positions. Sarafui and Ono-I-Lau have also taken up their new positions in A-Grade after being relegated, no doubt fighting to get back up into the top grade.
So far the Punjabi Tigers have been impressive, leading the premier league on 23.5 points, with last seasons winners Yadrana following closely on 22 points. Next is Komo (15), Moce 2 (14), Army (9.5), BSP Titans (8.5) and Covenant Bros (7.5), with VICC trailing the pack in the early stages on 5.
A-Grade is also tight at the top with Give me the Mountain currently leading the competition after two weeks on 44 points. Ono-I-Lau have shown early promise after relegation to be placed a narrow second on 43 points. Third place is Oneata on 35.5, followed by BSP Warriors (30), Nasaqalau (28), Moce 1 (27.5), SGOS (17), Police (13.5) and Sarafui (11.5) with Heilala rounding out the competition on -8.
