Tuesday, 13th January 2015: Fiji Airways, Fiji’s National Airline, will be resuming flights to Honiara after the suspension of air services between the two countries was lifted following a successful meeting yesterday morning.
Fiji Airways will recommence its weekly Tuesday Nadi-Vila-Honiara service from 3rd February.The weekly Saturday direct flights between Nadi and Honiara will commence on 4th April.Flights will be on sale within the next few days.
Fiji Airways Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer Stefan Pichler commented:
“We are happy with the results of the meeting between the two Governments which will now allow us to restart our services to the Solomon Islands soon and as planned. It has taken six months to reach a resolution and we are glad that all stakeholders have been able to come to an agreement that will benefit everyone, especially our passengers. We look forward to working with Solomon Airlines on developing a commercial partnership in the very near future and have invited them for talks.”
Fiji Airways has extended an invitation to Solomon Airlines to further discuss code share and interline agreements and other opportunities for commercial cooperation.
