MORE DRUGS SEIZED

More than 1,200 plants believed to be marijuana were seized during the second phase of Operation Sasamaki in the Northern Division yesterday.

Two of the three reports were received at the Tukavesi Police Station where 956 plants believed to be marijuana was uprooted from two separate farms. A plastic containing dried leaves believed to be marijuana were also confiscated from one of the farms.

In the third report lodged at the Savusavu Police Station, 265 plants believed to be marijuana were uprooted from 6 different farms.

As of today 8 people are in custody for their alleged involvement in the cultivation of marijuana. The Fiji Police Force Analyst is now at the Labasa Police Station conducting analysis on the plants and dried leaves believed to be marijuana.

 

As indicated yesterday by Chief of Operations ACP Rusiate Tudravu, Operation Sasamaki currently ongoing in the Northern Division is being conducted in a bid to rid society of drugs.

The Fiji Police Analyst will now be on hand to conduct the analysis of the plants or substances confiscated so that charges can be laid immediately and the suspect produced in Court.

The team will be moving to other Divisions in the coming weeks.
