Shangri-La’s Fijian Resort and Spa held a two-day Christmas Carnival for colleagues and their families at the Cuvu College grounds on December 12 and 13 December.
Welcoming colleagues and families, Shangri-La’s Fijian Resort and Spa General Manager, Mr Craig Powell said the Christmas Carnival was organised to thank as well as acknowledge the support of families.
“We would like to recognise each and every family member who has been with us every step of the way, as well as remember in our prayers those less fortunate than ourselves and give thanks for the gifts we have living in a beautiful place like Fiji,” Mr Powell said.
He also thanked those present for their loyalty to the company and said the best was yet to come.
“Our time is now and I would like to thank everyone for the warm homecoming that has been accorded to me.
“Providing this treat for our colleagues and families is a small token of our thanks to them for being so supportive throughout the year.
“We usually hold a staff-only party but this year we wanted to organise a more family-oriented event that would include everyone.”
More than 800 staff took advantage of the two-day carnival that was held to allow for rostered staff to be able to enjoy a day out with their families.
The Cuvu College grounds were set up with carnival staples including a ferris wheel, bouncy castle, candy floss, snow cones and popcorn stands, face painting and a photo booth.
Staff teams also organised a variety of games including Fijian ‘pani’, sack races, lawn twister and Simon Says. All activities, lunch, refreshments and all rides were provided by the resort.
