The 2013 Vodafone Bula Festival started on Saturday with a march past the main street of Nadi – Fiji’s tourism capital as thousands of people took to the streets to witness the start of yet another week-long experience of fun and entertainment. The procession was led by the Fiji Police Band – the best in the country.
Bula Festival Association Trust president Titilia Vuataki thanked everyone who has worked tirelessly behind the scenes to ensure the festival runs smoothly for the residents and visitors of the township.
Already into its 53rd year, the festival is the only one with an unbroken record in the country.
“I invite people to come out in large numbers during the day and the evenings as well to have fun and contribute towards charity at the same time,” Mr Vuataki said.
She said every dollar spent at the grounds contributes for a noble cause in one way or another.
Mrs Vuataki also thanked Vodafone Fiji for their timely sponsorship of the festival this year and looks forward to working with them in future.
The festival will culminate with the crowning night on Saturday, July 20 when the reigning Miss Vodafone Bula Festival Shaheen Shahista will pass the crown over to her successor.
Money raised from the festival will be used for charitable causes.
