I send greetings to all Fijian women on International Women’s Day.
This is a day to celebrate the special place of women in all our lives – our wives, sisters, daughters, mothers and grandmothers.
It is also a day to commemorate the achievements of women, recognise their aspirations for true equality and inspire them to achieve their goals.
The Fijian Government is committed to not only protecting the legal rights of women but empowering them and enhancing their status in Fijian society.
Every Fijian woman has a right to equality, respect, education and to be free from violence and exploitation.
The Government strongly supports the campaign by women’s groups in Fiji against violence and rape.
The ill-treatment of any woman is unacceptable.
I wish all the women of Fiji a Happy International Women’s Day.
