The Telecom Fijiana’s victory and qualification to be a core team in the 2015 World Rugby Sevens competition has brought much joy and encouragement to Rugby House.
“Next stop Rio” exclaimed FRU Chairman Mr.Filimoni Waqabaca.
In congratulating the players, coach and Manager and support team, Fiji Rugby Union Chief Executive Officer, Radrodro Tabualevu commented that the girls’ achievement is a timely reminder that diligence and perseverance will reap rewards.
“The FRU board and Management have been under fire lately and it can at times seem like its’ a thankless job”, said Tabualevu.
“This result is a timely reminder of why we turn up to work: to help young Fijians showcase the best of our spirits to the world but most importantly to all of us here.”
The girls, their coach and manageress have toiled on quietly to achieve this qualification and the girls have worked hard to be fine ambassadors of FRU and Fiji. They will now take our story to Brazil, USA, Canada, England and the Netherlands to compete in the Sevens.
“There is much to learn from them. Their selfless desire to represent the country is refreshing and uplifting.”
“A big Vinaka Vakalevu to the girls on behalf of their consortium partner sponsor Telecom Fiji Limited and the FRU.”
