The Water Authority of Fiji (WAF) says its customers can make a big difference inthe reliability of its water supply by taking immediate steps now to reduce waste and improve water efficiency.
The recent dry weathers and change in climate has been causing diminishing reservoir levels recently.
WAF is encouraging residents and businesses to help keep their water use down and practice water-wise behaviours.
The Authority says during times like this we all need to try to save a little more, to see how low we can go hence encouraging each other to step up and conserve before wider impacts are felt.
Work is in progress with the Authority implementing its plans and programs to diversify water supplies and increase long-term water supply reliability.
WAF is also upgrading its distribution systems to improve its water infrastructure. Upgrades in the water supply system will also give the conservation effort a significant boost.
The Authority says consistent water carting continues in affected areas as a temporary measure to address the situation.
The Authority highly regrets inconvenience caused to its customers while experiencing interruption in water supply.
