The biggest and most anticipated auxiliary sailboat regatta – the Fiji Annual Regatta Week will be held this year at Musket Cove Island Resort.
This event continues to grow from strength to strength over the years since it’s inception in 1980 as the Musket Cove Race Week which was the forerunner before the very first Musket Cove to Port Villa Race.
Internationally recognized as the original and the “Grand-Daddy of all the South Pacific Events”, Fiji Annual Regatta Week continues to attract scores of boat types and sizes from around the globe. Luxury yachts, simple yachts, racing yachts and cruising yachts alike will converge once again and drop anchor in our tranquil bay.
“This will be our 31st year of hosting this event and it will be held from September 5-10. Our team has been busy once again behind the scene organizing the program to ensure it will be another successful one,” Ms Kini Saukuru, Manager Sales & Marketing of Musket Cove Island resort offered.
“We are looking forward to another yacht club’s “Week of the Year”, when great times, camaraderie, good matured fun for everyone, friendships renewed and new friendships are the order of the day,” she added.
“One of the vital area of the success of this event is the generosity of our sponsors, which is the reason that Musket Cove Yacht Club is able to provide prizes, trophies, hosting and activities of Fiji Regatta Week because of the support and loyalty of our sponsors throughout the 31-years.
“Fiji has certainly proved that we are not only an island paradise for rest and relaxation but becoming one of the great yachting, cruising and sailing destinations. The increase of world renowned cruise liners and super yachts to our shores is testament to this.
“So far, 72 yachts have registered and we are looking at receiving more registration this week,” Ms Saukuru said.
Participants this year have travelled in from as far as South Africa, Gibraltar, Cayman Islands, United Kingdom, USA, Australia, New Zealand, Denmark, Canada, Switzerland, Germany, and a couple of registration have also been received from the local yacht clubs mainly Suva Yacht Club ,Vuda Marina and Denarau respectively.
