Bula vinaka,
We are less than 4 weeks away from tourney day and we have over 50 organizations that have confirmed participation which brings us to over 100 teams already. So if you haven’t registered your organizations interest at all but you’re intending to participate, drop me an email and advise of your team composition. Registrations are due next week Friday 22nd August. (Forms and Tournament Rules attached)
Don’t forget, if you’re making deposits into our ANZ account, state your organizations name under ‘narration’ and also send in a copy of your deposit slip to Mike and I. Our ANZ account details –
Acct name – Nadi International Airport Sports Committee
Acct # – 9658813
Acct Branch – Nadi Airport
Our theme for this year’s tournament is “Live, Love and Enjoy the Bula Spirit” with the theme colours of Silver and Blue for the After-function. The Tournament starts off with a Pre-opening on Friday 5th September at NASA from 7pm (gates open from 5pm). Please note that NASA has strict dress code so please make sure your team members come in proper attire and footwear. NO FLIP-FLOPS and ¾ PANTS/SHORTS.
Also, this year we will be judging and giving away prizes for 3 Uniform Categories at the Pre-Opening on Friday night i.e.
- Best Team Bula Wear
- Best Team Sports Uniform
- Best Team Evening Wear
All teams are to have at least 4 players to model each of the above categories.
Since this is our 10th year of games, we will be marching through town and we are having a Best Cheerleading Categoryas well. So start choreographing some “Bring it On” moves! The Bula March will require each team to make up their own marching music. Also send along an introduction of your team for your grand entrance into Prince Charles Park (Please keep it short!)
Seeing that the grandstand may not be able to accommodate all the participating organizations, we will still require those that wish to qualify for the Best Marquee Award to erect and decorate their tents along the embankment. Teams that are unable to get marquees can make use of the grandstand.
Just a few reminders for the after-function –
- Each player will be required to pay $5 entry fee. This needs to be paid beforehand and armbands will be distributed to team managers. The $5 charge also applies to your supporters, otherwise the gate charges is $10. If you have supporters that wish to attend the after-function, you can pay it together with the players’ bands. As most of you are aware, the NIAV has always given back to the community and the proceeds from the admission will be given to charity.
- Due to breakages and damages to tables and chairs over the years, we are now charging a $10 levy per table (10 people per table). Tables will be set-up only for those that have paid.
Lastly, we will only be holding one meeting with all participating organizations this year and this will be held together with our launch on the 23rd of August here in Nadi. Venue and time TBC. The pool draws will be done at the same meeting. We will need a rep from each organization at this Launch/Draws meeting.
A kind reminder to those that have the trophies from last year, please have them sent back to the committee as soon as possible.
If you have any further queries, please do not hesitate to drop the committee an email.
Have a blessed week all! J
Kind Regards,
Bulou Lele Vereivalu
