It was a night of entertainment, fun and extravaganza as the biggest kirtan night of 2014 between Sonam Bali and Avinesh Chand organised by the Fiji Broadcasting Corporation (FBC) rocked Nadi on Friday night.
Over 7000 kirtan lovers turned up at Prince Charles Park to enjoy the four-hour programme as Sonam Bali, famously known as Canadian kirtan Queen, delighted the crowd with her ‘Mata Rani’ kirtans.
On the other hand, Fiji’s Kirtan King, Avinesh Chand, was also at his very best performing in his home town as his very own ‘Tamil’ kirtan turned the Jet Setters into frenzy, keeping the audience busy shaking and dancing till the ending moment.
Speaking to The Jet, Sonam was overwhelmed with the great cheer and support shown by her local fans.
“I am really thankful to my group members and also brother Avinesh and his team for a great show tonight (last night),” Sonam said.
“The great cheer and support from the audience made the show more exciting as it gave us more confident to give our best.”
“I also thank Radio Fiji two for giving me the opportunity for the third time to perform here in Fiji and I am looking forward for more shows here,” she added.
The Kirtan king, Avinesh Chand was also very happy after a successful show in front of his home fans as his group also gave their best to entertain the thousands of fans gathered to witness the biggest kirtan night.
“Jet Setters are always the best in support for me and tonight it added more boost to give our best to my fans,” Avinesh said.
“I as an artist enjoyed the night to the fullest and I thank Radio Fiji two and Sonam for a great show tonight.” he stated.
Meanwhile, a very big appreciation was shown to the Downtown Hotel and P.V.V Rentals as they donated $450 cash for giveaways during the programme and also provided accommodation for the hosts FBC.
Appreciation was also shown to C.K Ezybuys who donated four trophies to the lead singers and the ‘dholak’ players.
