The week-long Ministry of Labour roadshow for the Northern Division came to an end yesterday.
The Minister for Labour Jone Usamate highlighted that the 4-day roadshow targeted at workers, employers, stakeholdersand the general public was a fruitful one when compared against the number of grievances and issues raised in last year’s Northern roadshow.
The Minister explained that the main purpose of his visit was to ensure that the Northern public have access to the right information on employment matters including those related to Fijian labour laws. He said that by engaging with the public directly on employment and labour matters would also bring about a decent and productive work environment in Fiji.
“My purpose is to ensure that social justice and good faith employment relations between employers and their workers prevail at all times”, the Minister said.
He said that the visitation was also to have meetings with key stakeholders in building better working
The Minister thanked the people in the Northern Division for taking advantage of the opportunity and assured them that their cases will be undergoing further investigations and to be addressed within the 3 months timeframe by his complaints resolution team.
