1 May 2015 – Digicel Fiji has announced today, the appointment of Mr. Darren McLean as its Chief Executive Officer, with effect from Monday, 5th May.
Mr. McLean has been with Digicel for over four years and takes up the new role next week, replacing Mr. Maurice McCarthy. Mr. McLean joined Digicel as the Digicel Pacific Commercial Director in January 2010 and was based in Suva for three years. He moved to Papua New Guinea in January last year to take up the role of Chief Operating Officer in Port Moresby.
Mr. McLean said he was honored with his new appointment as CEO of Digicel Fiji.
“It’s great to be heading back to Fiji and I look forward to the challenge ahead in this new role,” said Mr. McLean.
“I look forward to working with the Digicel Fiji team to continue providing excellent and innovative products and services for our valued customers,” added Mr. McLean.
He said Digicel Fiji had experienced strong growth over the last five plus years in the Fiji market and he was looking forward to the challenges ahead with exciting opportunities planned for the business this year.
Prior to joining Digicel, Mr. McLean worked in various marketing roles for O2 Telefonica in Ireland for 6 years.
Outgoing Chief Executive Officer, Mr. McCarthy has been promoted to the position of Regional CEO with responsibility for Tonga, Nauru, Fiji, Vanuatu and Samoa. He will continue to be based in Suva.
