(NATADOLA, FIJI) Tuesday 29 April 2014 – After four years as General Manger at InterContinental Fiji Golf Resort & Spa Scott Williams has announced his relocation to General Manager at InterContinental Wuhan, Central China.
FNPF Board Chairman Mr Ajith Kodagoda says that it’s been an honour to have Williams on the team and wish him the best with the next exciting phase of his career.
“Scott demonstrates a care and commitment, respect to the people of Fiji, and has actively promoted the idea of Fiji Citizens taking more senior roles in Fiji and has given opportunity for Fiji Citizens to work overseas. He has ensured the delivery of an exceptional experience to guests while maintaining double digit growth year on year and increasing returns for the people of Fiji. He will certainly be missed. Intercontinental remains to be the most sought after resort in its class, thanks to people like Scott who has laid solid foundations.”
Williams has been instrumental in developing the resort from humble beginnings to arguably Fiji’s most iconic luxury destination, winning the ‘Hotel Leader of the Year – Resorts’ in 2011, and a total of 53 awards and accolades during his tenure.
Williams also spearheaded an array of community initiatives, including the construction of a brand new Kindergarten at Malomalo school, continued aid to eight Natadola Bay community schools, and most notably, the ‘Insight and Leadership Academy’; Fiji’s only program to support university graduates with work placements as interns and apprenticeships.
Leading what has been dubbed ‘Fiji’s dream team’ Mr Williams is confident he is leaving the resort in good hands. Thanking his team of approximately 550 employees, as well as the FNPF Board in a recent personal address William acknowledged that none of this would have been possible without their support.
“Investing in your people and commitment to uncompromising standards is key to success,” Williams states, “ my philosophy on leadership is simple; be absolutely clear about what it is you want and what you stand for and encourage your team to do the same.”
Starting his career in hotels in 1992 Williams gained his first General Manager post in 2007 at Crowne Plaza Jinan. Since joining the InterContinental Fiji team in July 2010, the resort has only gone from strength to strength under his leadership.
