ALLEGED DRUGS CASE PROGRESS
A 43 year old barman was arrested on Tuesday, April 1 at the Nadi International airport whilst collecting a parcel of items sent from Burundi which allegedly contained illicit drugs.
Custom officials had seized the parcel containing some baby items on the 26th of March and upon initial investigations and tests found substances believed to be illicit drugs.
The suspect who went to pick the parcel from the airport yesterday was arrested by Police, and upon questioning informed officers that he was picking up the parcel on behalf of a foreign national residing in a Holiday Apartment in Nadi.
73-YEAR OLD MAN LATEST FATALITY CASE.
A 73 year old man is believed to be the country’s latest road fatality.
The victim was travelling in a four wheel drive with five others when it veered off the road at Tagitagi, Tavua on Tuesday,April 1 at around 11pm.
The driver and two other passengers are still admitted at the Lautoka Hospital while two others were treated and sent home.
Police say that investigators will await the doctors’ approval before questioning the driver and other passengers.
