Suicide and attempted suicide cases continue to be a concern for the Fiji Police Force.
34 suicide cases and an equally alarming 31 attempted suicide cases have been recorded from the beginning of 2014 to the 27th of this month.
The Fiji Police Force has continuously stressed that one case is one too many which is why we are pleading with members of the public to be more understanding towards their loved ones.
Thorough analysis has shown relationship problems being the most common reasons as to why people have opted to either take their life or attempted to do so.
Majority of the cases are as a result of issues which can be solved through dialogue. However reports seem to indicate that people are still willing to take such drastic measures as they feel they are isolated to the point that no one is able to assist them.
Police are urging the vanua, church and society to help prevent further loss of life by being willing to give and get help sooner rather than later.
Being patient, sympathetic, accepting, and avoiding arguments and being willing to listen are some characteristics people must adopt after analyzing the reasons behind the attempted suicide cases.
People must learn to accept the fact that we are all different and will handle situations in a different manner from others.
