THE PACIFIC ISLANDS PRIVATE SECTOR ORGANIZATION HOLDS WORKSHOP

The Pacific Islands Private Sector Organization along with the European Union officially opened a Regional Cluster in the Pacific Initiative coordination and training workshop which was held on Monday, March, 3 at the Tanoa Hotel, Nadi.

This new project is the fruit of the cooperation between the European Union and the Pacific Islands Private Sector Organization (PIPSO).

“The Regional Cluster Initiative in the Pacific, a project for which PIPSO was successfully able to secure some €932,000 (FJ$2.3 million) of funding,” said Pacific Islands Private Sector Organization’s Chief Executive Officer Mereia Volavola.

The venture is one that has the potential to address some of the business challenges and to facilitate the creation of an enabling business environment and for the first time in this region through this project it will cover four Pacific island countries which are Papua New Guinea, Samoa, Tonga and Vanuatu.

Ms Volavola added that the formation of prosperous business clusters in the Pacific will truly help to increase the region’s competitiveness in the world market, foster innovation and sustainable development as well as market the brand and talent by creating dynamic and prospective businesses.
