The Water Authority of Fiji advises its customers that there will be disruptions in water supply in some areas of the Central/Eastern division constituted by the adverse conditions and flooding yesterday (27/2).
Water levels at the Nayagi Water Treatment Plant have also been affected due to power failure.
Due to safety reasons, Waimanu Power Station supply was switched off by FEA. There are five power lines at the Station currently down and the Authority is working closely with FEA to have this restored.
The Tamavua Treatment Plant which also experienced a shortfall in its inflow is now getting water restored.
Some areas currently experiencing disruption in supply are:
– Whole of Calia areas, FNU Farm, Navua Town and Hospital,Naitata, Naitonitoni, Tokotoko Backroad and Highway, Naimelimeli, Vakabalea, Nasasa, Veiwawa, Deuba Villages, Vunibau, Narala, Raiwaqa, Waiyanitu and nearby areas.
– Delainavesi down to the Naval Base
– Wailoku
– Some parts of Cunningham, Namadi Heights and Tacirua
– Ratu Sukuna Rd
– Muanikau
– Domain
– Upper Nailuva
– Raiwasa
– Howell Road
– Laucala Bay area and Toorak
However, water supply is expected to be restored once the power reinstates in most areas.
Water carting has resumed in some affected areas as of 6am this morning. Supply is expected to normalise as soon as the reservoir levels become healthy. Customers are advised to use water wisely.
