His Excellency inspects the Nauruan Guard of Honor outside Parliament House in Nauru.
His Excellency the President Ratu Epeli Nailatikau held talks today with his Nauruan counterpart His Excellency President Baron Divavesi Waqa.
At the meeting, the President expressed the Fijian Government’s gratitude for the continued support shown by the Government of Nauru.
He spoke on the pathway Fiji was taking in restoring democracy and also how the two countries could strengthen their relationships.
President Baron Divavesi Waqa who was joined by the Speaker of Parliament Honorable Ludwig Scotty and Cabinet Ministers, was presented a copy of the Fiji 2013 Constitution by the Fijian President.
Meanwhile President Nailatikau was honored at a Presidential Dinner last night. In his address, President Nailatikau thanked the President of Nauru for his continued support over the years.
“I want to express my sincere thanks to you Mr President, for your regional leadership and your support for Fiji. “Under your Government, our relationship has strengthened and expanded and our relations with Nauru have been excellent,” President Nailatikau said to his Nauru counterpart, His Excellency President Baron Divavesi Waqa.
His Excellency also expressed his appreciation for the strong support shown by Nauru towards the Pacific Islands Development Forum.
“We especially appreciate your strong support for the Pacific Islands Development Forum, the PIDF, and Nauru’s work as a governing council.”
The President is on a State Visit to the Pacific Island nation as part of efforts to strengthen Fiji’s relations on the regional front.
