The five all of the Colo-i-Suva Forestry Training Centre were returning from Muanisolo Village on an official trip when they experience rough seas and the boat anchor fell off and as a result they were thrown into the sea.

Decomposed body update

The post mortem on the decomposed body that was discovered in Tomuka earlier this week was conducted yesterday.

While it has been revealed that the contents of the bag found next to the body contained a wallet and identification cards of a person reported missing earlier this year, however investigators will await results from forensic tests before confirming the identity of the deceased.

FATAL ACCIDENT

A 29 year old salesman residing in Valelevu is believed to be the country’s latest road fatality.

The early morning accident occurred at 0600hrs along Yasiyasi road Nadera. The 29 year old was driving the vehicle with two other passengers when it hit a lamp post.

The driver was conveyed to the CWM Hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival. Meanwhile the two passengers who were in the vehicle fled the scene.

This case is believed to be one of alleged drunk and drive as the deceased smelt heavily of liquor.

While the search continues for the other two passengers this unfortunate incident is once again a reminder that drinking and driving is a deadly mix.

The group is believed to have been returning from a night out and as a result of an unfortunate decision to get behind the wheel of a car has now left a family mourning for their loved one.

As the Fiji Police Force understands the festive season is upon us and a lot of partying and gatherings will take place, people are being strongly advised to be wise and make informed decisions for the sake of their safety and the safety of others.

The road death toll currently stands at 36 compared to 37 for the same period last year.
