The Vodafone Fiji Bati team today presented their iTatau to His Excellency, the President Ratu Epeli Nailatikau.
In accepting the iTatau, Ratu Epeli said that the team must be aware of what is expected of them.
“I know that all of you here have prepared well and are ready for the challenges that lie ahead of you,” Ratu Epeli said.
“The people of Fiji are familiar with your performances and we all know your personalities and what you are capable of.”
The Head of State also highlighted the significance of the iTatau to the team.
“The iTatau is a simple and traditional ceremony that you are here to pledge yourselves to the nation, that you are prepared, have trained hard and look forward to the challenge ahead of you,” Ratu Epeli said.
“I am humbled to receive your iTatau on behalf of the people of Fiji and the well wishes that I convey to you today are the well wishes of the people of Fiji.”
The Vodafone Fiji Bati team will play a test match against the Fiji Residents before leaving for the Rugby League World Cup in England.
