The Fiji Rugby Union has today announced the appointment of Ben Ryan as the new Digicel Fiji 7s Head Coach.
Ryan accepted the offer after the FRU board contacted him last night.
There will be a transition period of one month in England for Ryan and he is expected to be in the country for the Fiji Water Centennial International 7s next month. Ryan will also take the team for the first leg of the 2013/2014IRB World 7s Series at the Gold Coast in Australia.
Ryan will return to England after the Gold Coast 7s and move back to Fiji with his family before the Dubai 7s.
During his appointment Ryan will be required to develop local coaches and the game in the 7s code throughout the country.
His appointment is for three years and will be till the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio.
Also appointed last night were three team managers for the Fiji 7s team. Former Nadroga Manager, Paula Biu,Koro Manager, Ropate Kauvesi and Macuata Manager Isei Rayawa accepted the appointments and will work on a rotational basis.
The Fiji Rugby Union has decided on a pool of managers that will be rotated during each leg of the IRB World 7sSeries, and their progress will depend on their performance.
The FRU Board has taken a new approach in appointing the team managers as they would like to encourage proven provincial team managers the opportunity to manage National teams.
