HINDU DIVAS CELEBRATED IN UNIVERSITIES

Hindi Divas was celebrated in Fiji widely in Universities, Schools, and at the Mission.

Officials of the High Commission, Bank of Baroda, Life Insurance Corporation of India and New India Assurance Company in Fiji and their family members attended the function and participated in the competition.  About 90 persons attended the function and 21 participants took part in the competition.  The High Commissioner highlighted the importance of Hindi as the official language, and referring to the messages of Cabinet Secretary and Foreign Secretary, encouraged the officials to use Hindi in office work as far as possible.

The 2013 Hindi Day Celebrations was also held on Saturday 14 September at the University of Fiji.

Close to around 200 audience with the inclusion of invited guests, secondary school students, teacher, parents, FNU Natabua Campus and Unifiji Staff and Students  together with well wishers participated in the programme.

The official programme started at 9.30am with H.E. the High Commissioner of India being the chief guest on the event. The major highlight of the function was the oratory competition organized in two categories.

In which 14 schools from the western division participated in the Category 1 oratory competition with the Hindi Speakers  speaking on the topic “Fiji mein Hindi ka Prachaar Evam Prasaar” while 4 schools participated in  Category 2: Non – Hindi Speakers  with the topic “Hindi Bhasha:Sanghatith Samaaj”.

The celebration also consisted of drama performances by FNU, Natabua Campus students and Unifiji students.  The programme finished at 1:00pm with lunch for everyone.
