As part of their 175th anniversary the Melbourne Cricket Club has chosen to hold a weeklong tour in Fiji beginning on Monday, August 26th.
The side will be playing against a select group of national players during the week, as part of their celebrations.
Cricket Fiji High Performance manager Joe Rika said the tour enabled young local players with a good opportunity to play quality cricket.
“I think it’s a good opportunity to have international sides playing in Fiji against our players who are limited to such competition and I look forward to creating a fruitful partnership with Melbourne Cricket Club in the future.”
“This is also a great opportunity for the junior development squad to play against a quality team and this can only strengthen cricket in our country,” he said.
The Melbourne Cricket Club has toured the Pacific and has chosen Fiji as the venue of the 175th anniversary celebrations after consulting with the regional Cricket body ICCEAP.
As part of the tour, MCC along with Cricket Fiji will be holding coaching sessions and competitions from Monday August 26 – Saturday August 31st.
The MCC team will depart the country on Sunday September 1st.
