A six year old boy of Tavua is the latest road victim following an accident at Korovuto last night.
The incident occurred at about 7.45pm along the Queens Road where the victim was allegedly hit by a white car.
The victim had accompanied his 18 year old cousin to the shop and while returning allegedly ran across the road to the footpath on the opposite side when the tragic incident occurred.
He was rushed to the Hospital however was pronounced dead on arrival.
Police are now looking for the driver of the vehicle and are requesting the public to contact their nearest community post or station or call on 917.
Police spokesperson, Ana Naisoro said that this is particularly so for our children with the holidays taking place as well as the major social and sporting activities where our children are involved, parents need to handle their children with better care and vigilance and try to avoid another life being lost and another family having to endure the pain and suffering of losing a loved one.
Meanwhile, the road death toll currently stands at 24 compared to 28 for the same period last year and with a lot of movement expected over the next 48 hours, people are being reminded to take care of their safety on our roads.
