Natabua College were crowned champions of the Lautoka Secondary Schools’ Cricket Tournament last weekend, in a hard-fought, eight-run win over Central College.
In the final match of the tournament, Natabua were sent into bat first, knocking a respectable and competitive total of 112, thanks to contributions by Dharshal (19) and Dharshan (10) with the bat. With the ball for Central, Prashant took two wickets for 16 runs off his designated four overs.
Prashant also chipped in for his team with the bat, being the individual top-scorer with the bat for Central, with a knock of 27 runs. His teammate Pawan also contributed with 19, but despite reaching a combined team total of 104 runs, it was still eight runs short of the target set by Natabua.
Following up from his form with the bat, Dharshal produced a Man of the Match-winning performance with the ball for Natabua, taking 3-9 off his four overs.
Upon the conclusion on the final of the Lautoka Secondary Schools’ Cricket tournament, Natabua’s captain, Tushaar, was presented with the champion’s trophy, whilst Dharshal of Natabua was awarded Man of the Match, and Prashant of Central was awarded the highest run-scorer and best all-rounder of the final.
