The Fijian Prime Minister and Chair of the G77, Voreqe Bainimarama, will be speaking on the vast potential technology has to benefit the lives of ordinary people in the developing world, citing innovations and reforms that have taken place in Fiji, at a high level international forum in Hong Kong this week.
The Prime Minister departed today to deliver the key note address at the High Level Forum for South-South Cooperation for Sustainable Development, speaking in Fiji’s capacity as the 2013 Chair of the Group of 77 and China.
The meeting, which is being convened by the International Organization of South-South Cooperation, gathers international leaders and experts from across the globe including the incoming President of the UN General Assembly, John Ashe, and the Secretary-General of the International Telecommunication, Dr Hamadoun Toure.
The meeting is themed “ICT, Innovation, Culture and Sustainable Urbanisation”, and will focus on how South-South Cooperation can utilise and boost information communication technologies in the cause of sustainable development.
