Outrigger on the Lagoon · Fiji vuvale (family) continue to strengthen their community building efforts, this time by raising funds to lend a helping hand to a staff member who’s house recently perished in a fire at Olosara just outside Sigatoka.
Engineering Supervisor Anoop Naidu was close to tears as he received household items and appliances worth around $400 as well as $1500 monetary assistance from the Outrigger vuvale which was presented by the Chief Engineer Bassant Kumar.
“I want to thank the team at Outrigger, especially the management for helping me and my family. I am so grateful for the assistance during my families time of need”, Anoop stated.
“My family is currently staying with a neighbour in Olosara and we have begun constructing our new house. I would also like to say thank you to the staff that have come to lend a hand with the construction. My brother also works at the Naviti Resort and I would also like to thank the staff from the Naviti for helping as well”, Anoop added.
A fire gutted the nine bedroom house in Olosara a fortnight ago, leaving 36 year old Anoop Naidu, his wife and two children aged 8 and 4 years old, his parents, brother and sister-in-law homeless.
Outrigger on the Lagoon · Fiji General Manager Peter Hopgood said the Outrigger vuvale’s heart went out to Anoop and his family for the loss of their home.
“Fire mishaps are always unfortunate and this time it hit at the heart of our vuvale when a staff member lost his home”, Mr. Hopgood stated.
“All the staff dug into their pockets to give Anoop a soli (donation) to help him and his family get their lives started again and we wish him all the best with the construction of his new home”, Mr. Hopgood added.
