There is now only a week to go before Cricket Fiji’s under-19 side depart for Queensland to contest the ICC EAP U19 Championships.
The team will depart Nadi for Brisbane on Sunday, with the tournament to be held at the Maroochydore Cricket Club on Queensland’s Sunshine Coast. Fiji will play a series of pool matches against Vanuatu and Samoa, with the top ranked team at the end of the week to play Papua New Guinea in the final.
The boys have had a busy training schedule in the lead up to their departure, including a series of practice matches at Albert Park, and running in Suva’s Olympic Day fun run last Saturday, in which they finished 2nd as a team, and Jone Koroikalea ran 4th overall. However, the boys will have some very different playing conditions to what they are used to in Australia, with recent overnight temperatures getting as low as 7 degrees Celcius.
