Police arrest drug dealers
Police arrested a 49 year old man of Newtown who was found in possession dried leaves believed to be illicit drugs.
Early yesterday morning Police were patrolling around the Newtown area when they saw the suspect standing with a group of youths. He was approached and was found with a black plastic bag containing about 17 rolls of illicit drugs.
A 35 year old farmer of Tavea, Bua was questioned and released yesterday after been found in possession of a sachet believed to be marijuana. The sachet was found at his house by his mother and she reported the matter to Police.
Yesterday, a 56 year old caretaker of Vatudamu, Savusavu found 12 pots with 16 plants believed to be marijuana in his compound. The matter was reported to Police and the plants are now in Police Custody.
Students arrested for giving false information
Two tertiary students will be appearing in the Labasa magistrate court today charge with giving false information to Police.
On 18th May 2014, the first accused, a 19 year old female student’s mum left for Suva leaving her at home alone.
She called her boyfriend (second accused (20)) and they stole $1,400.00 and over $6000.00 worth of Jeweleries belonging to the first accused mother.
With the money, they called two other friends who came over and they partied with alcohol and food.
After the money was spent, they made a break-up scene at the house and reported the matter to Police.
Upon investigations, it was revealed that no break in took place but it was a made up story by the two students.
