The general concept of saving, budgeting and investing to meet future financial goals remains on every individual’s mind but many fail to take any firm action. Through various investor education sessions, the South Pacific Stock Exchange (SPSE) intends to educate the members of the public on how they can utilise the stock market and equip themselves with necessary skills in becoming money smart. As such, SPSE together with the licensed stockbrokers will once again be visiting the Western division to carry out an investment seminar and a broker consultation session. Over the years, the Exchange has noted a surging interest and eagerness from the West based investors wanting to learn more about share investments. Given that all three broking houses together with the SPSE is located in Suva, this visit gives an excellent opportunity to all those potential investors in the West to come down and consult the licensed stockbrokers directly in seeking quality advice on listed securities.
SPSE Chief Executive, Ms Jinita Prasad said “information sessions as such are organised aiming to get people committed to start saving and investing for their future financial goals like accumulating deposit for a house, having funds available to pay for kids’ education or even planning for a stress-free retirement.” Ms Prasad also reiterated that these seminars also aim to highlight some important facts that investors should be aware of such as listed company dividends being tax-free in the hands of Fiji residents and the exemption of capital gains tax and income tax on certain gains made.
Similar to previous visitations, presentations will outline savings and investing tips, how to achieve your investment goals, evaluating risks and returns, value of starting early, investing consistently and other fundamentals of share market investing. The presentation will also have a Question and Answer session. The attendees will be given a chance to interact with the licensed stockbrokers present and even place orders to purchase shares in securities most suited to their financial objectives.
The stipulated venue of the seminar is at the Tanoa Waterfront Hotel, Lautoka on Wednesday, 13th August 2014.
The investment seminar will be from 1pm to 2pm and this will be followed by a broker consultation session until 3.30pm.
The seminar is free of charge but registration is vital. Registrations can be done by calling the SPSE office on 3304130 or by emailing your interests on info@spse.com.fj
