The Minister for Foreign Affairs, Hon. Ratu Inoke Kubuabola is in Sydney to attend the two-days Forum Foreign Affairs Ministers Meeting from 9th – 10th July, 2015.
The meeting is organized by the Australian Government and the Pacific Islands Forum Secretariat. This will be Fiji’s first participation at the Foreign Minister’s level in the Pacific Islands Forum (PIF) since the Fijian Government made the decision over a month ago to re-engage with the PIF at Officials and Ministerial level.
The congregation of the PIF members States, associate member States and the Council of Regional Organizations in the Pacific (CROP) agencies is expected to deliberate on issues of topical importance to the Pacific region, including disaster management and enhanced international engagement.
Minister Kubuabola stated that Fiji was pleased to be able to participate at the meeting and looked forward to constructive discussions with his Pacific counterparts.
Minister Kubuabola is also expected to seize the opportunity to hold bilateral meetings with his counterparts from the region, including Australia and New Zealand.
These bilateral meetings are envisaged to discuss various issues of mutual importance with a view to further strengthening Fiji’s bilateral, regional and multilateral relations.
