InterContinental Fiji Golf Resort & Spa recently celebrated their annual Employee of the Year Awards for 2014. The candidates were recognised as Employees of the Month in the previous year for exceptional service and positive attitude towards both guests and team members.
The nominees were entered in an internal voting poll to win this award. Out of the 24 candidates, Vatemo Vaqonaqona from the Food & Beverage department and Ana Drawelaca of Housekeeping were delighted to be the winning nominees to receive the award, and be recognised for displaying true InterContinental service behaviours.
The InterContinental Recognition Program recognises colleagues for “Living the Brand” – service standards which InterContinental employees live by. To be recognised, employees must first showcase to one of three behaviours; “Make it Memorable”, “Be Charming” and “Stay in the Moment.” Once one of these categories have been identified and recognised, they are given a Recognition Card by their supervisor or manager. Each recognition card allows the opportunity to enter the running for becoming Employee of the Month.
There are two categories for the Employee of the Year awards; Front of House for employees that interact with guests and Heart of House for those behind the scenes who still find a way to shine.
Vatemo Vaqonaqona took home the award for the Front of House as the Best Frontliner and Ana Drawelaca took Heart of House award as the best heart and core member.
Ana was presented return Fiji Airways tickets for two to any destination the airline flies to and a five night stay in any InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG) property at that destination. Vatemo was awarded return Fiji Airways tickets to Brisbane, Australia and a five night stay in luxury InterContinental Sanctuary Cove Resort.
“With each passing year the resort’s performance always exceeds previous successes. This could not be possible without the relentless support from our dedicated team,” said Erik Stuebe, Area General Manager South Pacific. “We want to show our gratitude and reward their achievements by recognising their efforts to establish InterContinental Fiji as the best resort to work for, and for providing the best guest experience. The starting point for a great guest experience is a great team.”
