February 28, 2014 — Fiji Airways, Fiji’s National Airline, has collected another accolade for its rebranding efforts, this time honoured among one of the world’s most effective rebrands in the 2014 REBRAND 100® Global Awards. This highest recognition for excellence in brand repositioning underscores the impact of smart brand transformations. REBRAND is the world’s leading resource for brand transformation case examples and expertise. This year, only four other brands globally won the top award—and no other airlines. Other winners include Cancer Research UK, the Institute for Creative Health, Jason.L and Pact.
Stefan Pichler, Fiji Airways Managing Director and CEO commented: “It’s extremely pleasing to note that our rebranding continues its momentum, and this award is another recognition that our team thoroughly deserve.
He added: “It was clear, beyond representing Fiji on the global stage, that our return to Fiji Airways will deliver long-term benefits for our country and our airline, delivering a truly authentic identity, one that showed the depth of culture and natural diversity that Fiji offers. Working with Makereta and FutureBrand Australia ensured we were able to retain the integrity, beauty and meaning of one of Fiji’s richest art forms and apply this successfully in a visual identity”.
“I enjoyed the global scope. It was such a wide range of work in terms of complexity and cultures,” said 2014 juror Vic Cevoli, Global Creative Director, MarCom, Bose Corporation.
Each year, an international panel of industry experts convenes to jury this annual competition. Their review is of imagery, written summaries, and supporting elements that can include video and physical environments. Winning selections are for executed strategy that made an emotional connection and met strategic objectives with relevance to current audiences and prospects.
“The range from small to multinational organizations quickly reveal why strong brands win in the marketplace,” said Anaezi Modu, Founder and CEO, REBRAND. Renowned brand consultants involved in the work include Interbrand, Landor, FutureBrand, and Lippincott.

From its hub at Nadi International Airport, Fiji Airways and its subsidiary Pacific Sun fly to 15 cities in 10 countries. Destinations include Australia, New Zealand, USA, Hong Kong, Samoa, Tonga, Tuvalu, Kiribati, Vanuatu, and Solomon Islands.
