DONATIONS TO BOOST MATERNITY HEALTH SERVICES

The Maternity Unit at the Colonial War Memorial Hospital today received a timely donation of $10,000 worth of goods and products from the overseas manufacturing company SCA Australasia.

The company locally manufactures a range of products including toilet and facial tissue, hygiene products, paper towel, disposable tableware and incontinence products.

General Manager SCA Australasia Pacific branch Eldon Eastgate said the donation is targeted towards boosting services at the maternity unit.

“These donations will boost the services of nurses and also how mothers in particular can practice proper hygienic practices for their new-born babies,” Mr Eastgate said.

Mr Eastgate said in 2011, the company donated $100,000 worth of sanitary and soap packs to promote Government’s hand-washing program and healthy hygiene.

General Manager Colonial War Memorial hospital Ned Taito commended the company for their support towards promoting proper hygienic practices.

Meanwhile, Senior Matron at the Maternity Unit, Aliote Galuvakadua welcomed the donation today adding that one of the major outputs of the ministry is to promote good health and hygiene amongst mothers.
